Skeletal connective tissue (also known as fasciae), is a band of tissue beneath the skin that binds, separates, and stabilizes muscles and other organs. Their function is to reduce the friction caused by exertion of muscular force. They provide a wrapping for nerves and blood vessels that pass between muscles.
