In order to do percents you must make it a decimal to find how much money Ricardo has so far.
150•.83 will give you how much he has which is $124.50.
Therefore obviously you minus the answer from 150 to get what he needs to save.
He needs to save $25.50.
I wrote it out as an equality:
83/100=x/150 because 83 is a percent, it goes over 100 and x is the amount we are going to look for (83% of 150).
After cross multiplying, we have 100x=12450, then divide to get 124.50. But this only means that 83% of $150 is 124.50 so you want to subtract to get 25.50. You can also just take 17% of 150 for the same answer.
