3(x + 7) = 9(x - 1)
3(x) + 3(7) = 9(x) - 9(1)
  3x + 21 = 9x - 9
- 3x          - 3x
          21 = 3x - 9
        + 9         + 9
         30 = 3x
          3      3
         10 = x
