Heyo!
Solve the equation
1/3(2x -4) + 5 = -2/3(x +1)
Distribute 1/3 through the parenthesis
2/3x -4/3 + 5 = -2/3(x +1)
Distribute -2/3 through the parenthesis
2/3x -4/3 + 5 = -2/3x - 2/3
Calculate the sum or difference
2/3x + 11/3 = -2/3x -2/3
Multiply both sides of the equation by 3
2x + 11 = -2x -2
Move variable to the left side and change its sign
2x + 2x + 11 = -2
Move constant to the right side and change its sign
2x + 2x = -2 -11
Collect the like terms
4x = -2 -11
Calculate the sum or difference
4x = -13
Divide both sides of the equation by 4
x = -13/4
