What would happen if the water cycle stopped?

It depends on where it stopped... eventually all of the water would find its way into the ocean, or suspended in the air as vapor. We would only have salt water and pretty much every living organism on the planet would die within a few days. Some of the larger lakes would be around for a will, but eventually they would evaporate or we would drink them and dry them too.
