x=-1
x-7=2x-6
subtract x from both sides.
-7=x-6
add 6 on both sides.

x - 7 = 2x - 6   Add 6 to both sides
 x - 1 = 2x        Subtract x from both sides
     -1 = x          Flip it around so it's easier to read
      x = -1

Check your answer by substituting -1 in for x.

(-1) - 7 = 2(-1) - 6   Simplify 2 times -1
(-1) - 7 = -2 - 6      Simplify both sides
      -8 = -8

So, x = -1 .
